Term 4 Week 3 Notices

Assembly

Kākano 7 is hosting the school assembly this Friday. Everyone is welcome to join us. It starts at 2:05pm.

What an amazing day we had on Friday with Andrew Chinn joining us. He was blown away by the singing during our Grandparent’s Mass - he stopped singing himself during one of the songs so he could just enjoy hearing the children sing. We had a great workshop with him and the afternoon concert got everyone involved, smiling, singing, and dancing along to the songs. Thank you to all parents who were very generous with providing some lovely treats for morning tea. It was wonderful to have so many grandparents and grandfriends join us.

Thank you for having the children in their summer uniforms.

Some mornings are still cold so they may need jerseys.  Please

make sure that your child has their sunhat every day.

St Mary’s has the rule - no hat, no play. So if they do not have a

hat, they need to sit in the shade.  All items of school uniforms

need to be named, please.

A gentle reminder that school starts at 8:45. If your child arrives

after this time, they will need to report to the school office to be

recorded as present but late.

From Mrs Holmes - Student Returning to school

Kia ora whanau,

We have a student returning to school on Monday who has had cancer.

He has been away since 2021.

His immunity has been compromised due to the treatment he has received

and he is particularly susceptible to chickenpox and measles.

Any cases of chickenpox or measles, in the school community, need to be

reported to the school office immediately to ensure his health is not

compromised. He is looking forward to coming back to school.

The middle and senior school children have instructors coming in

Term 4 Week 1 Notices

Kia Ora and welcome back!

We hope everyone has had a safe and restful break. All of the teachers are looking forward to a busy and fun Term 4 with the children.

Assembly

Kākano 7 is hosting the school assembly in Week 3 - Friday, November 4th. Assembly starts at 2:05pm. I will try to get all children who would like to have a turn speaking to have a go. If you are able to attend that would be great. If not I will try to get somebody to take some photos.

Uniform

Students are to start Term 4 in full summer uniform. Our Uniform Shop is open Mondays (8.30-9.00am), Wednesdays (2.30-3.00pm) & Fridays (8.30-9.00am) during term time. The girls’ summer dresses are currently only available from our school uniform shop. Please don’t forget children need to wear the school sun hats in term 4.

We also sell school uniforms via our school website. You can order and pay online and pick up your uniform from the school reception after you have been notified by email that the uniform is ready to pick up. Hopefully, this will be easier for those parents who find it difficult to get to our uniform shop.

Sunhats

Sunhats are a part of the summer school uniform. Thank you for helping your children pack their sunhat each day. We have a ‘no hat no play’ policy when it comes to being outside during play times.

Swimming

This term we are all going swimming. The classes alternate swimming weeks. Please bring swimming togs and a towel each day when it is your swimming week. Kākano 7 are swimming this week.

THE COLOUR RUN

It is the final week to get sponsors. Please continue getting sponsors.  If you haven’t made a profile yet, there is still time.  We can keep going right to Friday and then the fun will begin. https://schoolfundraising.co.nz/  After the event the children will be able to order their prizes online. Orders need to be done by 31 October.

The Colour Run is finally upon us!!

The students have done an AMAZING job fundraising and it is now in the final week for getting sponsors.  The colour run will take place this Friday afternoon the 21st of October starting at 1.30 pm

Students must wear old clothes for the run…they will be covered in coloured chalk by the end of it!  (Rest assured it does wash out). Please send a change of clothes and a towel as there will be a water activity. They cannot use their sports uniform or their school uniform when taking part.

We invite you all to come along and watch the fun unfold!

If you would like to be a parent helper on the day please let Brigitte Holmes know.

brigitteh@stmarysrotorua.school.nz or text 0272121206.

The PTA helpers will be about but we will need more hands to help with safety, please volunteer if you can.
